FINAL CONCEPT FLAT PACK

FINAL CONCEPT

Images of final finished concept

Pros: -This concept is really stable with all locking system and support found underneath the seat which is where all the weight of a person will go

- I am really happy within the final look of the chair it is interesting from all sides
- There is very little waste as the concept aims to use as much of the material as possible
-The arm rest and back rest has really good strength

Cons- The overall look of the chair is beautiful but if you look underneath the seat you will find that some of the angles are not yet resolved.

FINAL CONCEPT

This image shows how the arms and front legs all fold underneath the chair, this is aim o create strength.

FINAL CONCEPT

image shows the back of the chair which has a 180 degree fold to give the back extra support, the back legs will then lock into the front for stability and core strength.

FINAL CONCEPT

This is an images showing the base of the chair, this concept using a locking system underneath the seat for core strength and stability.

SEATING POSITIONS

After a bit of research i found that majority of people are more relaxed being seated at a lower angle as compared to a straight 90 degree angle, not only are they more comfortable but at the same time it has less strain on their lower back.
All images above simply show different people and different seating positions and it also shows how the majority of people are doing damage to their backs without realizing it.

INSPIRATIONS

inspirations on cardboard furniture, forms, shapes, locking system etc....

CONCEPT ONE

In this concept i have incorporated two armrests these could also be used as cup holders. The chair will be made up of 6 panels in total and will have extra panels inside for extra support.

CONCEPT TWO

This design is quite basic, it consist of two circular panels top and bottom, in the center will be panels intersecting with one another to create a strong core.

CONCEPT THREE

In this design i started with a rectangular seat, stool legs are at 450mm in height the legs will at 85 degrees and will be held together with a jigsaw locking system.

CONCEPT FOUR

This design was inspired by aarnio-eero's screw table, i am using a hexagon shape with a jigsaw locking system. This chair will be used in a small lounge/cafe area for visitors to sit, relax and have a rest during the exhibition. It will be located outdoors replacing the messy and very unattractive plastic chairs and tables.
